Also unusually for Miyazaki the movie is set in a definite place and time. In the many wonderful works of legendary Japanese animation master, Hayao Miyazaki, ‘Porco Rosso’ shines as somewhat of an under-appreciated (in the west) gem that mixes the director’s love of child-friendly adventure with an unusually simple story.
